Stockroute Road music boxes are handmade in Australia along the old stock route road in Northern NSW. Australian Woods encase the workings of a music box that plays Waltzing Matilda a song that is strongly assossiated with Australia. A fabulous gift to take overseas for adult or children alike
All boxes are made from salvaged Australian Rosewood (Dysoxlum Fraseranum), sourced from old logging and clearing sites. Each box is made from a single piece of rosewood. Rosewood is one of the country’s finest cabinet timbers, it is a slow growing long-lived tree found in the rain forests of eastern Australia. The rosewood tree grows north of Sydney through in the Gympie region in Queensland – its status is now considered scarce.
Rosewood’s longevity and its extreme resistance to decay means that many Stock Rout boxes are made from timber that grew over a thousand years ago.
